Chapter 2 is 50% COMPLETE! 🥳 (+ New Project Announcement)

And despite the Unity fiasco, progress on Just Keep Running is lookin’ goooood. We’ll talk all about it in this article!

👷👍Level 2-2 is DONE!
Chapter 2 is now 50% DONE! I suspect the last 2 levels will take a little longer to work on than Level 2 did, but Chapter 2 should hopefully be out at some point in late October 😁

ℹ️ Updates regarding our use of the Unity Engine
Soo, our post talking about the Unity “Runtime fee” and our social media posts about it made some noise, which is good. People do need to know that this is a crappy situation.
We do want to let y’all know about how the development of JKR will continue from now on. Unlike some indie studios, we do not plan on switching engines for this game. We’ve worked for over a year on the project now, and while we are disappointed by Unity’s actions and transitioning isn’t impossible, the process and hard work of rebuilding everything in a new engine is simply not worth it for us. We simply don’t have the time, knowledge, patience, and willpower to do so.
However, that does lead us to an exciting little announcement…
🕹️🥳We’re making ANOTHER GAME!
The name and logo are temporary, but I’ve been planning this for about a month now and started working on it whenever I found the time a few weeks ago! And, we transitioned to developing the game using Godot instead of Unity as we had planned, since I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to finally explore new engines 🙂
This is the game I'm making as my high school diploma project, and my friends and I think this is a pretty neat idea to explore, whether it goes well or not.
So… Here’s the brief.
Imagine an action/stealth game where you play as a T-1000 Terminator.
You're (fully or partially) made of liquid metal, which can be used to create weapons, camouflage yourself, interact with the environment, and multitask.
But… That same metal is also your health. And it’s limited.
It’s your choice how you want to play the game. You can either go balls to the walls and make the most noise possible with your abilities. Or, you can try to sneak around quietly ALSO using your abilities. However you decide to play, it is vital to manage your metal wisely as it is essential to your life.
Obviously, the story and gameplay will be adjusted so that it plays better and so that we aren’t just, y’know, STEALING from Sony and getting ceased and desisted XD
But, the general idea is an action/stealth game with a fun yet challenging resource management twist.
We’ve made a game page you can follow and we’ll keep you updated on the game’s project as often as we feasibly can! We’ll also be trying to post weekly updates on the game’s progress every Friday on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, so make sure to follow us there as well 😀
